We Heard that there's a Night Market in Toronto 🤫

This week's dispatch is a little different. We've been busy planning an aesthetic and embodied experience through which we will share the research and prototypes that emerged from the call to reimagine the alternative arts marketplace. Why? Because reading a research report is not something we do naturally in life. We also realized that not all on this mailing list love to read long-ish writings from us for breakfast.
The merchants, artists, and surprise guests will host a night market on Thursday, March 27 and Friday, March 28, at Allan Gardens Children’s Conservatory in Toronto: some serve as a response to the follies of art under capitalism, some illuminate paths toward more profound friendship, while others experiment with micro-businesses centred around an exchange of experiences. A pandemonium of parrots. A coin dealer. Soundscapes. Krump. Movements. Lores. It will be a night of singing, dancing, and encountering art in wonderful and date-worthy ways. Enjoyment does not require payment; however, if you choose to part with something precious—whether it's a story from a dream, money, or sweets—in fair exchange, you may take some handcrafted wares home with you. The merchants and artists raise their own funds to travel and gather at the market, bringing with them art forms that will be hard to find in other markets. They take this opportunity to share their insights into alternative economic models they hope to see more of in the arts and, perhaps, life in general.
Closer to the date, merchants may launch online shops for pre-orders of ephemera, lores, and handcrafted goods that can be experienced or collected at the market. You are on our mailing list and will be the first to know.
